We are trapped in the rabbit hole of social media

We are trapped in the rabbit hole of social media. The period of lockdown made me realise the power digital world holds over the real world.

During all this time we have been so indulged in the activity of mindless scrolling that we never realized what was meant for sheer entertainment has made us miserable and lonely.

The fancy cars, the picture-perfect models, routines of celebrities (which you can hardly follow considering you have a 9 to 9 job), only pushes us to welcome an “unrealistic reality” in our life.

Nobody admits truth on social media, because admitting the truth goes against the fake world built online.

1,000+ friends on Facebook, 10,000+ followers on Instagram, under the label of “network”. But isn’t it true we have forgotten the real meaning of “connect?”

“Treat celebrities like normal people, and normal people like celebrities.”

This quote is the only way to survive in the digital world. You end up feel incompetent, sad when you start comparing your worth with the highly delusional pictures you see online. The whole purpose of “self-love” goes for a toss.

Well concealed lies, temporary love and empathy are the key ingredients of the virtual world.

On one end we are fighting over equality, racial discrimination, and on the other hand, we admire the well-photoshopped photos.

Is the world of social media on the road of Objectification? Are we all digging graves for our own mental health?

Social media is like Sugar, you cannot live with it and you cannot live without it. You need to balance those atoms.

Social media is a powerful tool, with both pros and cons, the way you use it can change your life. There is a lot of digital noise, go for digital detox once in a while. Cut the clutter, understand your needs and find ways via which you can grow!! Understand, nothing in the virtual world is worth losing your peace of mind and quality sleep…
