“So no one told you life was gonna be this way”
As kids we could think only about games, cartoons, chips, pizza, burgers and most importantly fries (they still stay in my mind all the time). But, as we grew old we started thinking or if I may say so, we started overthinking about everything!
Today’s post is all about my stress stories, how it affected my health and how I deal with my anxiety.
We all knowingly or unknowingly put ourselves through a lot of stress and all of this reflects in our mood and our health.
My first, unknowing encounter with stress was, when I was in class 10th. Just two days before the boards I got my periods and the pain was extreme, I could barely sit. Knowing my body, I knew this was not normal. I went to the doctor, she asked me if I was under any stress, I said, ‘NO’, but unknowingly I was, and in my subconscious mind I was taking a lot of pressure to perform good, to score better than my friends which eventually took a toll on my health right before the exam.
My second encounter was when I was pursuing my graduation, I started complaining of stomach ache, almost every second day. Multiple tests were done, but everything was fine, so, what was wrong? Was it because I was taking too much stress of my studies or was it because of the people around me? How there was no stomach ache when my mood was good or how it disappeared when I pushed certain people away?
My third encounter, and this was a big one, when I moved to a new city for my job (P.S been living alone from past 3 years) I moved to Noida in June’19. You know there are times when you visit some place and you don’t get good vibes, well it happened to me on day 1 itself, which I ignored. Slowly and steadily everything went downhill, I had bouts of anxiety, to wake up and come out of the bed was a task in itself. Things got worse when I stopped doing things I loved the most, I stopped reading, writing, going to gym. But the question stayed the same what was wrong? Was it the place, the people I was living with or something else?
We humans have the tendency to take stress of things which are non-existent to some, we think and re-think and then eventually end up overthinking about everything, adding stress to our life. In most of the situations we don’t even realise that we are stressing ourselves because it has become a habit.
Stress need not be because of work, it can be because of anything, time, place, people. The list goes on and on.
So if you are someone who has faced similar kind of situation, here are some quick tips for you to pass that phase of restlessness/anxiety:
On regular days, work out at least 5 times a week, be it running, zumba etc. When you exercise “happy hormones” are released in your body which makes you this beautiful happy person. Keep a check on your activities, if you like reading books, read few chapters daily, listen to good music. Give time to yourself, indulge in activities which makes you happy, even if it is cleaning your wardrobe every weekend. The more you enjoy your company, the more happy you stay.
Also, please please please, share your worries with your dear ones, family, friends anybody, the point is to talk things out.
If you feel you need to visit a doctor please do!! Suffering is a sin, be a fighter, be a winner, fight away all your stress and lead a happy and a beautiful life!!
The key to a happy life is a happy you!!

Well drafted. The single biggest differentiator that makes us human is our ability to hold stories and narratives... This is what Yual Noel Harati talks about in his book Sapiens which is a great read. As described by you, most stress in modern times is manufactured by our mind and we hold some narratives of imagined realities to be true. Stepping back and seeing yourself often is a good way to dissolve these narrative as is also speaking to a loved one. Cheers.
